About the Role 

The SandboxAQ team is looking for a Principal Investigator that is customer-facing and is the lead technical expert for the Solution Delivery team. The Principal Investigator may support pre-sales demonstrations, prototypes, proofs of concept and client-facing presentations during the entire sales cycle. The Principal Investigator, along with other roles, will oversee the implementation and customization of the product for particular customer needs. From time to time, the Principal Investigator may need to go onsite, liaise with customer technical teams and manage projects to completion.

This position is contingent on contract award.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical direction of major US Government IT Security programs
  • Manage the teams’ balance between customer delivery and the Product Development Roadmap for Post-Quantum Cryptography products in the Federal market
  • Ensure all technical milestones in contracts are agreed upon, vetted, and collaboratively managed with Government customers, internal stakeholders, and team members 
  • Manage all Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) efforts on contracts
  • Ensure customer-facing product development complies with all applicable Government regulations, contract requirements, and industry best practices 
  • Ensure user acceptance testing and user adoption are successful

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline
  • U.S. Citizenship and/or security clearance is required due to USG contract requirements
  • Ability to travel onsite in Washington, DC
  • 10+ years experience leading the technical team of large, complex US Federal Government programs
  • 10+ years experience in cybersecurity, cryptography, or IT system security, with deep knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) management
  • Understanding of network infrastructure fundamentals and secure communication protocols such as OpenSSL, VPN, TLS, IPSec (strongSwan) or WireGuard
  • Ability to work in a small team / rapid prototyping environment and deal with uncertainty and fluidity
  • Experience with enterprise cloud technologies, both public and hybrid cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), scripting languages (Python, RoR, etc), and/or integrating with 3rd party DevOps, and monitoring tools
  • Implementation experience with enterprise security solutions such as WAF, IPS, Anti-DDOS, and SIEM
  • Experience building security reference architecture for cloud deployments, and hybrid cloud/on-prem scenarios as well as knowledge of VPN and network security.
  • Past experience at established security companies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Post-Quantum Cryptography
  • Experience with Rust or Golang
  • Competence with data analysis / ML 
  • Ability to port Linux network applications to Android with native build
  • Technical experience working with existing security products and customer applications utilizing security technologies.
  • Past experience building or defining security strategy for both cloud, and on-premise systems at large enterprise customers.
