The company

C12 develops reliable & application-specific quantum computers, to solve highly complex computing tasks, currently out of reach of even most powerful supercomputers.

Building a quantum computer still needs innovators ready to tackle exciting challenges. C12 founders are convinced that only a new material for the qubit will bring a technological breakthrough.

C12 uniquely uses carbon nanotubes as the fundamental building blocks of its quantum processor. This high-purity material minimizes errors, radically improves performance and reduces hardware overhead for fault-tolerant computing. Combined with well-established semiconductor techniques, carbon nanotubes will help scale quantum computing, just as silicon revolutionized classical computing.

Founded in 2020, C12 Quantum Electronics is a fast-growing start-up, having raised a seed round of USD 10 million in June 2021 and building its own lab space in the center of Paris (Panthéon).

Your role

As a direct report to the CEO, you will be providing support for all the R&D teams at C12 regarding the management, organisation and maintenance of all our in-house labs (350m2), including one nanofabrication cleanroom (e-beam, SEM, ICP-RIE, UHV evaporator…), a CVD growth lab, an optics lab, a prototyping workshop (soldering, 3D printing), and a nano-assembly lab.

Your daily work will include :

  • Understand basic technical requirements of the R&D teams and place orders for supplies & technical products as necessary (personal protective equipment, gas, chemicals, mechanical and electrical components, consumables and other products needed in the labs)
  • Take care of deliveries and logistics : send and receive packages from small samples to big equipment including chemical products, gas bottles, electrical components etc.
  • Manage the storage of our supplies and proceed with regular inventories of our stocks
  • Keep an eye on the cleanroom to keep the workflow steady: replace empty chemical bottles, store the used chemical drums when full, refill wash bottles, launch and empty the dishwasher, refill the stock of pipettes, syringes, filters, wipes, gloves, masks, …
  • Coordinate the cleaning of our labs with our cleaning supplier, supervise chemical waste removal, manage the laundry of the cleanroom garments on a weekly basis, and set up a recycling policy
  • Supervise the safety policy within the labs : schedule safety training for team members, enforce policies around personal protective equipment to ensure that the clean room facility complies with the safety standards, check gas detectors and fire extinguishers, update lab safety plan and safety data sheets etc.
  • Act as a liaison between staff and external stakeholders in case of technical problems facility-related (water, electricity, elevator etc.), be the first point of contact in case of problem regarding the building
  • Coordinate with our equipment engineer in charge of the maintenance of our tools to ensure that we have the maintenance kits and components needed for our different tools, schedule the annual maintenance with the vendors etc.
  • Ensure that all team members have been trained to use laboratory equipment, software, and supplies safely and efficiently

The job and tasks can evolve depending on the profile of the candidate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or technical degree in electronics/microelectronics/assistant engineer/industrial maintenance or any related field
  • First professional experience in a technical environment (fabrication lab, gases, cryogenics, vacuum and chemicals etc.)
  • You are curious and resourceful
  • Experience with semiconductor clean room ISO level 7 or 8 is seen as an advantage
  • English is mandatory as this will be your working language, knowledge of French language strongly preferred
