If you love being an integral part of a company, delivering informative, accurate and timely financial results, and being part of a strong team to deliver these results - this is the right role for you! Reporting to the VP, Financial Reporting & Compliance, you will be responsible for activities relating to internal and external financial reporting requirements.  The role will oversee the implementation of best practices relating to financial accounting and reporting standards, as well as being a key player in the design and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting.  The position will work closely with other members of the Finance team to ensure consistency and compliance with financial controls and will interact with external auditors and other stakeholders as required. You will have strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge, with experience in optimizing business systems to support the Finance team’s internal controls process over financial reporting.  

Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the preparation and timely filing of quarterly, annual and intermittent financial reports with the SEC (Form 10-Ks, 10-Qs and S-1s) including drafting financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A
    • Contribute to the preparation of quarterly earnings press releases ensuring that all financial information is accurate and consistent with the corresponding 10-K / 10-Q
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, management reports, certain accounting entries and account reconciliations
    • Remain current on new accounting pronouncements and technical accounting issues.  Analyze, research, and conclude on new and proposed accounting, reporting and disclosure standards issued by the SEC and FASB, and prepare memorandums summarizing the impact on the Company and its corporate accounting policies
    • Be a subject matter expert in U.S. GAAP (‘GAAP’), with focus on providing advice and guidance on all technical accounting matters and preparation of documentation and accounting assessment, including memos, for all material transactions
    • Develop and monitor the Company’s accounting policies and internal controls to ensure integrity of financial and accounting information and compliance with regulatory requirements; and develop new processes to support the rapid evolution of the Company’s business
    • Manage and develop a revenue recognition model, including preparation of revenue recognition memos, for D-Wave’s subscription sales generated through its Quantum Computing as a Service (‘QCaaS’) cloud platform and for professional services sales generated from the Company’s Launch program
    • Coordinate the Company’s annual audit and quarterly reviews with the Company’s external auditor
    • Provide ad hoc analytical support and assist with special projects, as needed
    • Responsible for owning the financial disclosure and reporting module of equity award system (ie. ownership of equity awards being reported under U.S. Gaap, black scholes valuation assumptions and stock-based compensation calculations and reporting)

Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business / Accounting; CPA certification
    • 2+ years of public accounting experience followed by 4+ years of experience with a publicly listed multi-currency technology company, preferably with a SaaS-based business model
    • Proficient knowledge of US GAAP, including an understanding of recent standards, interpretive guidance, and SEC rules and interpretations
    • Self-motivated and strong analytical / problem solving skills with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage projects concurrently.
    • Experience with equity award accounting and systems (ie. stock options, RSUs, ESPP)
    • Experience implementing systems, processes, and controls.
    • Proven supervisory and leadership skills.
    • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work streams and strong attention to detail.

    • Experienced with Mid-tier systems experience (NetSuite)
    • Experienced with financial reporting systems experience such as Workiva, DFIN etc.
